CLF Big Day of Maths
Today is the International Day of Mathematics and we are staging the first CLF Big Day of Maths. Pupils and students across our Federation, both secondary and primary, are collaborating to explore geometry using the habits of mind that they use when being a mathematician.
The purpose of the day and the investigative activities is to support learners in developing their mathematical skills. In particular, the Big Day of Maths is about enjoyment and engagement so there will be a particular focus on supporting learners to develop positive attitudes by modelling these ourselves and encouraging learners to work collaboratively and to value each other’s ideas.
We also want to develop learners’ understanding that their natural learning powers can be used as tools to reason and solve mathematical problems.
